The success of electric vehicle development depends on efforts to improve and extend energy storage capability, and reduce costs through industry standardization and mass production. This effort requires extensive collaboration and cooperation between all of the groups involved from universities, to government, utillity industry groups, oem's, and the investment community to make the transition to electric drive a smooth process for consumers. Adequate funding for battery research and develoment is essential for this effort to succeed.
